Frida and the Poppies

Moda Society | Stand : JA07

Frida Kahlo is considered a symbol of strength, resistance and determination for women. Painting her symbolizes the unbreakable spirits of women who dare to resist in a land occupied.
Frida holding a Pomegranate symbolizes abundance, prosperity and strength after the time of distress. The poppy is often displayed as a sign of solidarity with Palestinians and represents their connection to their land.
Cactus is a symbol expressing the strength of the people to not only thrive and survive (despite all odds, like the prickly plant itself), but also to resist.
A key in this painting symbolizes freedom, possession and commitment.
In the background (vintage book pages, post cards, letters, diary pages) everything is related to memories of the time when they used to live in their actual home.
