Imprisoned beneath liberty's veil

Fatemeh Afrasiaby | Stand : JB04

A prison without bars, a cage without locks—yet we remain bound.

This image speaks of an invisible confinement, one not imposed by force but nurtured by learned helplessness, a slow surrender to the weight of an illusion. We stepped forward in search of freedom, yet what we found was a hollow embrace, a structure grand yet empty, a promise unfulfilled.

Like moths drawn to light, we have grown accustomed to its presence, mistaking its glow for warmth, its vastness for possibility. And so, we linger—forgetting that we are trapped, forgetting that what we once sought is not here.

But every now and then, in the flicker of a moment, the veil slips.

And we remember.
