The holiday in the Armenian Apostolic Church is special in that it is conditioned by the blessing ceremony of ripening grapes from the pagan time of Armenia in this period of August. That is, on the day of the holiday, after the Liturgy, a blessing of grapes is performed, after which only grapes can be eaten. Thus the whole harvest and goodness of the year is blessed. They make a blessed wine from the same blessed grape, which people keep until next year's grape blessing as a sign of abundance. During that day, in the regions which are famous with their grapes, wooden barrels are placing with grapes and girls are starting to squash the grapes by foot and dance under the live traditional music and songs.
