To stand before the walls of Cacaxtla is to feel the weight of time. Colors, textures, and spirit remain—etched in stone, alive in silence. A testament not just to those who created them, but to those who still stop to listen.
At Cacaxtla, alongside Jaime Cama and Sergio Montero, we sought ways to safeguard its murals while staying true to their essence. That pursuit granted me an unexpected privilege—to stand before them, to witness their presence, to capture them in a way few ever do.
Seen up close, the strokes, the textures, the depth of color take on new life. There is a quiet reverence in observing them this way—a silent dialogue across centuries.
The energy is undeniable, a thread woven through time, carrying the artistic and spiritual sensibility of Mesoamerican civilizations into the present.
