51 - Songs of Nature

Gallery Beyond | Stand : B03, B04

Anand Mali has spent most of his life in quiet places, surrounded by elements like water / rocks/ sand/ trees. Most of his paintings here are titled 'Shades of Nature', 'sound of water' or 'songs of water'... and the artist might relate his visual experience to real places, mostly in his home state - Maharashtra. Abstraction, for Mali, is a process of translating his lived experience with real places into Elsewhere. With a capital E, as it affirms the destination.

This destination: Elsewhere - is not about a place,

 it's about the time.
It's about a moment that we feel the water flow/ fall/ rise

or recede.
A split second when the rock seems moving within itself;
or a prolonged afterhours with its many occasions of light.

As against this Elsewhere, a camera is everywhere,

a camera captures the moments/split seconds or even

the prolonged hours.
A camera makes a note, it records and documents the

moment.
