Central to Spirit of the Wild is Abe Orobia’s reflections on life’s materialities. For this series, he continues to use aluminum sheets from discarded oil paint tubes, folding and crumpling them, pondering on human vulnerability and natural processes, shaped by forces of growth, decay, and transformation. Works from this exhibition feature the artist’s rendition of what lingers in every day - these often overlooked natural circumstances - from transitions of withering landscapes that cue their eventual flourishment to vivid renditions of animals in their natural habitat and ecosystems suggestive of survival, continuity, and transformation.
