The core of Chong-Xiao ZHENG's work is the idea of actively participating in society. Therefore ZHENG's landscapes are interactive landscapes that desire to engage in a dialogue with the world. When ZHENG saw the original piece of Travelers Among Mountains and Streams by Fan Kuan in the National Palace Museum of Taiwan, he noticed that the aesthetic experience of ancient paintings might be reinterpreted in a modern way and therefore be inherited. Since then, he has started a landscape reinterpretation plan by incorporating issues such as animal conservation, environmental protection, food crises, and energy shortages in his work. He also put “Little Fat Boy”, a personal icon based on his physical features with vivid brushstrokes and cartoon style, in his art, guiding viewers to search for a new home in the wilderness.
