Inner Light
For the series I emphasized on materiality by upcycling discarded tube containers from my oil paints. I fold and crumple it to symbolize human spirit which is fragile yet hopeful and resilient. Nature represents our untamed and uncultured faculties yet we have this ‘inner light’ in each one of us that overcomes our frailties and wickedness since man I believe is naturally good. Fireflies have built in light switches in their system. They seem lowly and unpromising during daytime however shines the brightest during the darkness of the night.
Inner Light series is both metaphoric and naturalistic. Metaphoric because of the interrelated symbolisms and naturalistic hence we generally view nature as mundane. It is an everyday occurrence and particular with it yet we fail to see the lessons it can teach us.
