My work begins from the perspective of a person walking alone through the city.
People build cities and put up buildings out of necessity, but it is the buildings that stand still, watching over people as they come and go like the tide. While some buildings hold great historical or artistic significance, most are just ordinary structures where people go about their daily lives. These buildings are the face of the city and tell me different stories every day. We spend most of our daily lives in the city, moving between these buildings.
Above all, these city buildings are built solidly, as they must be. I think this resembles the daily lives of people who live each day with a calm face, hiding their complex inner selves. The buildings in my drawings, which are solid yet soft, linear yet intertwined with organic lines,
reflect the emotions of the people living in the city.”
