This artwork reimagines the legendary Shiranami Gonin Otoko (The Five Bandits of Shiranami) as cats, drawing inspiration from the Edo-period kabuki play that romanticized noble thieves. Each feline bandit is depicted with an object that symbolizes their distinct personality and role within the group. By blending traditional Japanese aesthetics with a playful feline twist, this piece offers a fresh interpretation of the classic outlaw tale.
The work consists of three interconnected paintings.
