Fumika Tanaka (b. 1980, Japan) is a visual artist whose practice is deeply rooted in traditional Japanese ink painting while integrating contemporary design and cross-cultural influences. She explores themes of identity, adaptation, and coexistence through the expressive qualities of ink lines, bridging historical techniques with modern interpretations.

Tanaka began her ink painting studies in 2003 under the late Akio Taya, former Vice Director of the All Japan Ink Painting Association, where she immersed herself in traditional sumi-e and Nanga (Southern School) techniques for over a decade. Her recent works extend beyond Japanese tradition, incorporating influences from Italian fresco painting, further enhancing her exploration of cultural fusion.
