Nagoya Shougun Emaki

JCAT NY | Stand : DA05

I created a pop-style depiction of samurai and princesses related to Nagoya City, blending traditional Japanese aesthetics with a modern twist.

The artwork features famous figures like Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu, along with their wives and associated princesses such as Nohime, Nene, and Senhime.

Nagoya Castle and the golden shachihoko are also included.

Through this piece, I aim to introduce Japan's historical techniques, creating a ukiyo-e-inspired design.

The patterns carry positive meanings and wishes.  As this piece reflects the power of the samurai who unified Japan, it symbolizes victory, prosperity, and protection from misfortune.

This artwork has been mounted as a hanging scroll by a traditional artisan.
